A sequel to our last post about what is being transformed into the "Immortal City Of Lagos", we'l be taking you on another journey through what is possibly the busiest city in the world.
I'm not going to make a whole song and dance thing out of this lol, that's not my department, and besides Someone Already Did , awesome video by the way.
The Busiest City In The World
I don't need to tell you how mad traffic is in Lagos. On the day that Michael Jackson died, I and somto spent 11 hours in traffic in Apapa . Yes we do laugh about it from time to time but it wasn't funny at all. I feel that our Dear Governor who is arguably the best we've ever had , felt our pain.
These early risers have helped to reduce the number of motorists we have on Lagos roads. So while some people are like "Thank God, i don't have to drive to work every single day", other Lagosians are like " hmm the roads are freer, I should probably take my car out more often", and end up in even more traffic. Our Dear Gov, went further to create a separate lane to counter this, and I can tell you its working. A little too well in my opinion
The Bus Rapid Transport System, employed in a number of countries round the world, seems to thrive very well in this particular climate.
Well now that we've seen how to get from A to B quickly in Lagos, lets start our journey.
So, we have a clear view of where we are, and where we are headed. I'm actually just noticing this lol.
The site of our first shoot ever, brings back a lot memories.
Looks like a military hat? well it was built during the Nigerian Military Regime. It housed most of the famous presentations of the time, and drew in works from the likes of Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka .
A wonderful and "art soaked" place. Its just sad that its not being taken care of. Story of Nigeria I guess.
Journeying to the most affluent Neighbourhood in Lagos is no easy task. Why?, Well everyone wants to get there, at the same time, and for the same reason.
Take the guy in a suit on Okada there . Travelled a long way off, from the mainland to the island, holding tight to the frame of the bike, just to make sure he doesnt fall off while the Okada Man does his traffic and LASTMA / KAI Weaving Magic (They are not on speaking terms by the way), just to make sure he gets to work on time. Did I mention that he parked his car some miles back?.
Journeying through Lagos is almost like journeying through life, and I've realized that to get to smooth and clear roads, most times I'll have to go through the "rough patches".
Up There we have a rough patch.........
Down here however, as you can see, the roads were free (notice the blurry car?) and the scenery was brilliant. Don't ask me how I manage to handle the steering wheel and take shots. I will say this though, Please Don't Try This At Home, .......... because you need to be on the road to do this , lol.... but seriously, Don't.
If you take a look at the first shot , you'l notice this building. I ts the one in the middle of the theatre and the lamp post with a band of red on top of it.
Fascinating really, but what wowed my senses the most was the scenery behind it
