Made In Nigeria by Clement Ogoh

So our newest addition to the photography family decided to put together a shoot that highlights a few problems young people in Nigeria face, and he decided to use Me , Victor and Somto as Guinea Pigs in this new experiment of his (despite the possibility of a jail term ha-ha) we gave our support, and I agreed to do a little write up under every shot , explaining what I feel young people go through in Nigeria today.

Lets Begin Shall We.

Is there any hope for us? , I feel hope is something you give yourself, and if you are strong enough, something you give others. The way I see it, young people are already living in the worst case scenario, and when a person hits rock bottom, he / she either chooses to bounce back in a struggle to get back to the surface, or lay flat in defeat . Like I said , hope is something you give yourself .

I Strongly believe that blaming the government solely for human capital development is an exercise in futility. Taking into consideration the fact that we are the government. I don't believe that 140 million people can be wrongly governed by about 20'000 people without due consent. You see there is an equal and opposite reaction to every action in physics, in life however, when we fail to develop ourselves , the reaction is often unequal, actually a lot more catastrophic than the action(s) that set it in motion.

Wahala, we use this word every day in Nigeria. It means "Trouble" , and as you can see, we seem to have a lot of that here, at this "corner" of the globe lol. For us young people, most of it , to be honest, is self inflicted seeing that the amount of time we spend solving problems is a lot less than time spent creating them. I'm not trying to be judgemental, I am after all a young person in Nigeria, but the truth is, its not the seniors that plant car bombs, or kidnap , or break into houses, break pipelines or even write potentially infuriating articles on their blogs  lol. its us .

Yes we might say "Big Oil " causes Big Problems here, they have ensnared the country in a cycle of  poverty and all that 1960's jazz, but the truth is before the oil came, from the people I've spoken with, young people were actually very industrious, involved in so many other sectors of the economy that they really didn't need  any "oil money" . The only thing that has changed now that the oil is here , is our attitude towards exploiting other non - oil  opportunities.
Its not an easy thing to do , I must confess, but nobody ever became great by doing things that were easy. Hercules isnt remembered for  doing lay things, but for standing up for things he believed in. We need to stand up and be counted as a versatile and potent force.

Where are we headed? the truth is , its the people that are aware of the fact that we are actually going somewhere as a people that will eventually decide . All of us can join forces and steer clear of adversity in the future, or just a few of us can. The more the merrier , I always say.

I hope you enjoyed reading this, and i also hoe it made some sense. I feel I trailed off a few times.
