We've been away for a while .
Here's why.
in chronological order.
Sometime last year, a week after Victor went on his documentary trip to Kogi .The Floods hit , and it would've been total madness if we did not decide to send him back.
The plan was simple . Move in , Get The Pity Pictures , Move Out .
Something happened when Victor Moved in.
Because we had underestimated the level of damage that occurred, he wasn't prepared for the shock of seeing peoples lives literally being washed away .
It was beyond surreal , people who had potentially the smallest contribution to carbon emissions around the world , were the ones paying for it .
Going round the secondary schools they had converted to campsites , he would see so much undernourishment and suffering that he would have o give his food away, especially in situations where for example , a family of 16 was given a small tin of tomatoes to feed on and nothing more.
So the "Move In , Move Out " plan was scrapped an changed to the "Make a Difference" plan
We've spent the last couple of months planning an exhibition and gathering support from capable donors to come together and do something about this, while we document the Kogi people receiving this aid and basically their journey on the road to recovery.
So far, we've received support from ThisDay Newspaper , if you have the January 6th copy of the newspaper, you will see the wonderful job they did. It did set off a series of events that helped get the attention of the Presidential Committee on Flood Relief and Rehabilitation and to some extent the Goethe Institut of Art . Our fingers are more than crossed , seeing that its a little hard to empathize and help a situation that you have no standard image of . Here's hoping that the plans we've laid on the table will translate into changing the lives of the Kogi People for good.

One of the few reasons why they stood and posed as directed in some occasions like this one, was on the condition that we made sure that word got out.
We plan to make good on our promise .

We are also planing a 2 Week Photography Workshop . Its going to focus on the basics of Photography and Photo-retouching. we will be taking in 15 people per week .
the exciting part is , we are partnering with Make Up By Orsela a leading make up school in Nigeria, and they will be handling a part of the classes. We will also be partnering with the top music magazine in Nigeria My Streetz Magazine . The package for this tutorial is Phenomenal and i will give full details in the next blog post . It will be dedicated to furnishing you with all you need to know.
Did you know that Make Up By Orsela is owned by Naija's Own Eva Alordiah ? and she will be doing the make up at the workshop herself?
I'm not even going to tell you about the magazine .. lol
So , Somto came back from the mountain , obviously with his creative juices flowing again after a hectic 2012 , so when he said "We Need To Build A Set In The Studio" i didn't even bother to ask why, and as usual , when he was done, he got the web buzzing again with his valentine story. It's really epic. from Bella Naija to 360Nobs
but unfortunately no one could've foreseen the sad passing away of our dear Goldie Harvey on the same valentines day. I was woken up by a couple of calls and pings from well wishers trying to confirm the news they had read on Linda Ikeji's Blog .
For the record , i had only met her once in the studio, she came over for a photo-shoot for a magazine we work with. I was expecting to see the person that some people had already branded her to be, following the controversy she had caused and more recently her Big Brother Performance , (never really watched big brother or really listened to much of her music) , but instead i met a kind and loving soul. It was a day with Goldie, and it was a magnificent day.
Rest In Peace Goldie. it was an honor.
Life is Short.
There are a lot of things i cant disclose right now, but as they unravel i will .
Here's to a fruitful year for us all.
