Okayyyy, simmer down now. I know what it looks like.
And no, this week's blog post doesn't involve me hurtling down the 3rd mainland bridge at an alarming speed and taking an awesome photo while at it ....... which i did .... O_O
No.. it involves me , taking photographs of moments in time , some of which occur faster than than most of us can blink. Allow me to introduce you to the amazing world of high speed photography.
Normally , to do this properly , I'd need to break out some top notch equipment and lights and complex gizmo's, but it wont be much of a challenge now would it?. for this post as with all others , I've decided to use nothing but my amazing Canon G12 , ( with no lights , or back drop. Just a table and a few subjects to shoot ) not that its built for things like these, but if you are willing to push it to the limit, it will not disappoint ...... most of the time lol.
I was able to capture the exact moment of ignition of this match stick. Its burning at the rate of 1cm per second ... however, since the tip of the match measures a lot under 1cm coupled with the fact that the spark happening beside it occurs almost at the same speed as light occurs , I'd say I was pretty lucky on this one.
Away from the mind boggling science . I had to calm down and try a few more basic things.. like dropping rice on the table. But this too was a little more challenging than I thought , with so many tiny things moving quickly in different directions at the same time.
I thought I was frustrated , shooting grains of rice, till I tried this.. If you can take a second to examine the background , you'd realize how much water was wasted . It wasn't all bad. the idea for the next shot came from this one.
You see, my many takes, with the iron sprinkler had left the table a little soaked, and it was then that I decided to go for the big cheese. Capture that moment where a drop of water hits the surface of a small puddle. I thought it was virtually impossible, not with the G12, but I gave it a go all the same. I was seriously proud of myself at this point lol.. until I decided ....... One More...
and then this happened .
I decided to have a little fun. and sometimes, in life,..... that's all you really need.
Watch out for Thursday, we have a new wonderful travel photographer. She'l be waiting to take you on a wonderful journey through Incredible India.
