This is going to be short.
Much like the number of years democracy or the illusion of democracy has spent in Nigeria (depending on your various points of view).
This is not a blog about politics, but its a blog that has a lot to do with promoting Nigeria and her photography talents.
1999, i was still very much a kid, we got the day off , the 29th , no school .. woohoo! Saturdays were the best , i didn't really know what was going on, but the good vibes coming from the adults that day pushed my already curious self to find the reason for this.
They were handing power over to the civilians. some guy called Obasanjo had been elected and the military were "going away".
But as the years went by , so did the smiles and good vibes, still a kid, i searched for answers, i hated reading but i found these answers in a book. "Animal Farm" . Apparently , Mr Jones was gone, and not very nice things had hit the fan, our Boxers hadn't died, just relocated to "greener pastures" and some to the nearby glue boiler. Napoleon , Mr Pilkington and Squealer were "hard at work" . Mr Frederick was having a serious ball, they all seemed to get along, oddly enough while the rest of us were simply looking in from the window, cold and broken . Snowball?, he was either in jail or being chased around, getting accused as usual, he found his way to the window eventually. .
And then it happened, that little glimmer of hope . we weren't trying to get to Sugar Candy Mountain we didn't need 7 Sundays every day of the week, many appoint a few to make life better, not the other way around.
We've seen 13 Democracy Days . But in the opinion of many Nigerians, we've not had 1 day of democracy.
Im Still a kid though, still searching for answers.
What do you think i should write now?
